South Africa football captain Senzo Meyiwa has been shot
dead. The 27-year-old played in a match for his side the Orlando Pirates last
night South African Police Service said two men entered his girlfriend's house
around 8pm local time, while a third man remained outside. All three fled after shots were fired, in
what local media reports say was an attempted burglary. The gang arrived demanding Meyiwa's mobile
phone, one report said. Club chairman
said: 'This is a sad loss to Senzo's family especially his children, to Orlando
Pirates and the nation'
